No one appreciates a guest who overstays their welcome. But that’s exactly what might happen this holiday season, or any other time of year, because your carpet provides the perfect home for a number of uninvited house guests!
Dust mites. Some dust mites will probably always be present in any home, because they’re incredibly tiny and feed off of dust (which is made up of discarded skin cells). They won’t bite you or otherwise harm you intentionally, but a lot of people are allergic to them. So if you do suffer from allergies, regular carpet cleanings can reduce the number of dust mites in your home along with your allergy attacks.
Fleas. Once a home has been invaded by fleas, it can be incredibly difficult to get rid of them. A professional pest control service might be necessary, but you should pair that effort with regular carpet cleaning and diligent care of your pets. Removing eggs from the carpet will reduce the population of new fleas, and treating your pets will cut the fleas off from their main food source (blood).
Carpet beetles. Carpet beetles are tiny insects that feed on natural fibers like wool, flannel, fur, and feathers. While they won’t bite you, you might notice eruptions of red welts if you’re allergic to them.
Mold. It’s not an insect, but mold is definitely a living thing that you won’t want setting up house within your home. Mold can cause everything from a yucky musty smell to severe medical problems, and everything in between. Regular carpet cleaning is a must to keep mold spores under control within your home, especially if the carpet has ever been wet.
Christmas tree stowaways. Many people prefer the smell of a real Christmas tree, and going to purchase one might be a family tradition. But remember that trees live outdoors, and plenty of insects call them home. If you bring home a natural tree, there’s a good chance some of those little bugs will scamper off into your home and set up residence.
Carpet cleaning is the obvious solution to evict all of these uninvited guests. Give us a call, and we’ll help you get your home spic and span for the holidays.
